Arcturus' fourth and reportedly final album continues along the same lines as the previous one, it's still avant garde metal with a lot of keyboards and listening to this, the band's black metal past seems a long time gone. Personally, I find "The Sham Mirrors" a stronger overall release but this is still a very good Arcturus album, highlighted by the magnificent "Shipwrecked Frontier Pioneer". Simen Haestnaes does a wonderful job replacing long time vocalist and mastermind Garm and the production is probably the best Arcturus have ever had. In 2007 however, the band made an official statement that they're calling it quits, apparently due to conflicting time schedules with many of the members being active in a number of more or less successful acts.
