"From Langley Park To Memphis" is, of course, not really the follow up to "Steve McQueen". That role belongs to "Protest Songs" which wouldn't be released until a year after "Langley...!" "Protest Songs" was intended to be something of a limited release during the tour that accompanied "Steve McQueen," but concerns about conflicting with sales of "McQueen" once "When Love Breaks Down" finally became a hit caused the release to be shelved. - Greger

Liner notes from the original LP-release: "protest songs was recorded and mixed by richard digby smith at lynx studio, newcastle upon tyne in september 1985, the exceptions being dublin and pearly gates which were remixed at utopia in new york by michael h. brauer and life of surpreises which was mixed by lance philips. protest songs was originally to be released in december 1985 and chronologically belongs between steve mcqueen and from langley park to memphis." - Greger
